Thanks for the mini-interview, Dian! I'm going to just paste my answers in, if you don't mind.
Lily, was Willam or Caitlyn based on anyone in real life? No. Nothing about them was drawn from real life. They are completely fictitious.
Did the characters come to you fully fleshed out, or did you get to know them as you wrote their story? They came to me in bits and pieces. They were nothing like I envisioned them to be. Caitlyn started out as a very head strong, brassy girl who turned all shy on me when she met the man of her dreams. William was a playboy who did exactly what he his father told him to. He lived for the day and didn’t look to his future but meeting Caitlyn changed that.
In Gen, do you get the plot idea first, or the characters? Always a plot. Characters find their way to the story. Some work, some don’t.
Do have a (that) story in the back of your mind that you've promised yourself to write? Oh yes. A very lengthy paranormal dealing with vampires, shifters, and a government conspiracy. lol
What is the one question you'd ask your characters from this latest story in an interview? Have they researched to find out who Olivia and Daniel really were and what happened to Daniel after Olivia’s death.
What is the question they wouldn't want you to ask, lol? Probably…was real sex as good as the ‘dream’ sex. LOL
In your next book (upcoming) what is the strongest personality trait your male character has? IE: Honesty, humor, so on.... he’s loyal, kind hearted, honest…that’s more than one, isn’t it?
What is it that draws the female character to him? The loneliness she sees in his eyes and his kindness to her despite the fact he wants to wallow in his grief.
Lastly, what is the one thing about the hero in the lastest book, that you discovered later, and didn't know from the get go? That he’s an old softy! That hard as nails exterior houses a puppy just begging to be petted. He wants to be in love and to love someone in return. His life has not been satisfying to him and upon meeting his ‘dream girl’ realizes life is more than money and his business.
Thanks again! That was fun.
Lily
